Hi Everyone!
I am finishing a post recapping my J. Crew NYFW experience (it was PHENOMENAL). I will try to get the post up this afternoon. I cannot stop thinking about how much fun I had.
In the meantime, I am sharing a review of the J. Crew Washed Cotton Trench Coat. This trench is a really great transitional piece. It’s lightweight enough to wear now if you live in a place that is experiencing warmer temps this weekend. And, this beauty will work well into spring:
Fit/Details: I took my normal size 12 in this trench, so the fit is TTS. Again, the trench is lightweight–it’s not too thick or too thin. The material is not substantial, which I love. This is a grab and go piece that does not require much figuring out what to pair with it. I am incredibly busy (as most of us are), so I love the idea of putting on a versatile/classic piece that looks great with jeans but that also doesn’t make me look sloppy or uninspired. And, the quality of this trench is superb. I am wearing the trench the way it was styled in the retail store closest to me, with
the J. Crew Striped Ponte Sweatshirt:
I highly recommend this trench!

Thanks for stopping by!
It looks fab on you, Rynetta! I need to try this one. The one that sells for $198, while i like the construction, I found that it being too structured made it felt stiff and i felt conscious with the lapels and double breasted buttons adding bulk to my 36 chest. I'm hoping this will work..Have a great weekend!
JSR: Thanks SO much! I honestly think that this is a fabulous piece. It's not structured, but that is exactly what I love about this trench. Please let me know what you think if you try it!Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
So chic! I do like it with the wide stripe on that top. Thanks to your post, I'm going to take a second look at the trench and that top. Can't wait to read your post on NYFW. It was so fun to follow along on your instagram.
maryeb: thank you SO much! I agree, the wide stripe top really works well with this trench. I love that styling. Let me know what you think if you try the trench!Have a great week!
Looks great Rynetta! I like where it hits on your leg. May I ask how tall you are? I tried the military trench coat a couple months ago but it was just too long for me. This one is a few inches shorter and it looks like there is a petite option…
Lauren: I really appreciate the compliment! I am 5'6ish. I love the length on this trench–it's really ideal!
I love the length of that trench. Been looking for one just like it. I do have a question though. Is the fabric wrinkled–I mean is that how it is supposed to look. I don't wan to spend hours ironing a coat!
Catherine: I love the length, too. It hits perfectly. The fabric is "washed," so I think that adds a bit to making it look slightly wrinkled. I honestly do not think that the trench wrinkles badly. It's an excellent piece in my opinion.
Cool Thanks!
I like this on you a lot. I think it flatters you nicely. I saw it in store yesterday, and really liked the feel and weight as well. For where I live, I need a coat that can always handle the rain (i.e. hood and more water resistant), but if I still lived out east I would definitely consider it. Thanks as always for sharing!
R: I really appreciate the compliment. I love this trench. Like you, I really like the feel and the weight. And, you're very welcome! Happy weekend!
