How to Style Classic Fall Sweaters

Fall is upon us and I am SO excited for cooler temperatures, chunky sweaters, and alllllll of the layers! Fall is hands down my favorite season. So, today, I am sharing a few ways to style classic fall sweaters. I love a cozy, cable knit cardigan because it is SO versatile, SO soft, and SO effortless to style. The J. Crew Cable-Knit Stretch Wool Cardigan Sweater is one of my favorite recent purchases. This sweater is SO cute and classic and it fits seamlessly into my wardrobe. The sweater is offered in two colors, including a gorgeous shade of green, brilliant kelly, and heather light stone. I purchased both colors because this sweater is SO fabulous.

How to Style Classic Fall Sweaters

I love that there are a variety of ways to style classic fall sweaters. A classic cardigan sweater looks great with a crisp white button-down shirt, with a fun graphic t-shirt, with a crewneck sweater, and with jeans, a skirt, or dress pants. The multiple styling options make it easy to wear a classic fall sweater to work or out to dinner after work, for brunch with friends, or for a fun a date night. I love layering, so I paired my J. Crew Cable-Knit Stretch Wool Cardigan with a classic white button-down, the J. Crew Slim-Fit Stretch Cotton Poplin Skirt.

And, I love that a classic fall sweater looks great with a variety of shoes and accessories. I love to have fun with bold colored shoes and prints such as calf hair shoes. The neutral version of the J. Crew Cable-Knit Stretch Wool Cardigan Sweater looks fabulous with calf hair loafers, calf hair pumps, sneakers, Mary Jane flats or heels, classic booties. The brilliant kelly version of the sweater looks amazing with calf hair shoes, too!

I wanted a casual look, so I paired my classic fall sweaters in the images below with a slouchy, distressed boyfriend jean, the J. Crew Slouchy Boyfriend Jean in Ancient Blue Wash. I love these jeans SOOOO much. The jeans look amazing with sweaters (and blazers and other tops)! The fit and the quality are both amazing. I purchased my typical size 32 in the jeans, so fit is TTS in my opinion.

Again, I love having fun with bold accessories and shoes when styling classic fall sweaters. Pops of color and leopard easily elevate a classic fall sweater look. I paired the sweater in the images below with the J. Crew Anya Mary Jane Flats in Calf Hair, but it would also look great with fun sneakers, booties, a calf hair pump, classic loafers, or Mary Jane heels. And, I paired the sweater with the gorgeous J. Crew Made-in-Italy Faceted Teardrop Earrings in the “jungle green” color.
