Hi Everyone!
ETA: I will definitely respond to every comment later tonight. I wanted to let everyone know that I returned the pants! I love the color, and I think that they will look great on someone else. I sincerely appreciate the honest feedback!!!
I have a hard time finding pants that fit properly, but I decided to try the J. Crew Cafe Capri in Wool in Retro Jade. I LOVE this color and these pants fit so well into my wardrobe. Here are the website images featuring the pants:
Here are a few IRL pictures of the pants on me:
What do you think? Do tell!
Thanks for stopping by!
I like them on you,very nice.Is the pant TTS?TIA
i have been trying to figure out if this colour will suit me – between your reviews on the no. 2 pencil skirt and now these pants, i may have to do it! 😛 thank you R! xox P
Hmmm, I like the color and you can certainly pull if off but I am not sure about the fit, to be honest. It may be just a camera angle but they seem to emphasize your hips (btw, I think pencil skirts do just the opposite). I think the cropped, tapered length is also tricky for everybody, but especially for those blessed with curves. I think full length and maybe even slight bootcut would have better proportions. I have hard time with getting the cropped pants to work myself and personally, I think full length always looks better. xoxo
I tried these on recently and wanted to love them but could not. I do love the color but don't like how easily the outline of the pockets can be seen on both the front and the back. You may be able to have the front ones sewn shut and cut out (I've done this with quite a few different pairs of pants and it works pretty well – but personally I wasn't willing to that for full-price pants.) So all that to say these were a no for me because they were unlined.
I love the color. I find the cafe capri fit me best too. I am sure you will wear them with everything. Now the question is, which bubble necklace matches them best?
Hmmm…I like! You may get me to try on pants 🙂
I tried these on in Boston and quite liked them – such a pretty colour! I am with AJC in that I would love to see you in an elegantly draped pant that is wider all the way down and simply skims the thighs! The new trousers that AJC has on her website today would be amazing with your figure!
I love the color on you but I'm one of those people who are sensitive to wool, these pants unlined were slightly itchy to me when I tried them on. I'd agree with AJC and encourage you to try a different style of pants rather than settle for these. Perhaps it's the angle of the picture but a full length may be better for you.
Rynetta, you have a wonderful wardrobe and great sense of style but these pants are not doing you any favors. Capri pants chop up the body and shorten the leg while adding bulk in the middle. They are not flattering on anyone IMO. Tim Gunn backs me up on this one too. I would return them asap. I'm not intending to be mean or disrespectful, I am just giving you my honest opinion. Feel free to delete the comment and have a wonderful day.
I am crazy about the color of those capri's – but I simply refuse to buy them without a lining. I have the gorgeous blue color from last fall/winter season, and I never wore them out of the house. I put them on, and by the time I'd be heading out I just had to take them off! I tried wearing spanx or hose underneath, and it was worse – a sort of rubbing friction between the fabrics. They really need to line these, or I will not buy them. If they had a lining, I don't think they'd be getting those diagonal creases you're getting across the thighs (rear view). I certainly have enough clothes, so these wouldn't tempt me at all.
I looove the color of these on and for you. I agree that a pant with a more fluid drape would be better. Something that skims the body more than outlining it. I love that you are breaking away from the pencil skirt for a moment. You know those are a homerun, so it's good to mix it up once in awhile and test new things.
Rynetta, always to thyself be true. I am sorry I didn't make this comment before on a previous post about rude and ugly comments that were made (I am not going to go there). Do you girl, and don't let anyone get you off your A game. If pencil skirts in every hue and pattern make you feel like the most confident, smart and poised person that you are, then just feel blessed that you are one of the few who knows what looks good on them and feels good at doing it. I never wear skirts, we are all self conscious about something. Remember, we never really see what others see. I envy the fact that you wear skirts so beautifully. Many of the chicest women of the world have a "formula" for dressing. Count yourself as one of them. Now I'm not against experimenting, just don't let it be an expensive one (JCrew Cafe capris aint cheap!). I say nix the pants, now can I see you in that next pencil beauty please? 😉
I am with Michelle – I think you look FANTASTIC in those pencil skirts – I love them, too, and I wish I looked half as good as you! Plus I am counting on you to "test" those new colours for us! DId you SEE the sparkly leopard print? I think that has you and I written all over it!!!
Have you tried the minnie pant? I cannot pull off the cafe capri, but the minnie works for me. I think you could pull this off with a heel on though. How tall are you? I am 5'4" and slightly "curvy" and I feel like the cafe capri makes my legs look stumpy. The minnie on the other hand looks sleeker. Just some ideas. It can be hard to get a good feel through a picture and not in real life so disregard my comments if I am way off!
I love this color, but I have tried the cage capri in wool and it just doesn't fit the same as the cotton. I know wool is better for colder months, but I try to stick it out with my regular cafe capri. I find the wool to be itchy, tighter and less giving than the other capri. Maybe you should try both out for comparison???
So I bought these pants when they were finally on clearance at my local j.crew…. but I have no idea what top to wear! Any suggestions as to colors, styles, etc????
These pants are now on sale — in this great color — at the newly opened J Crew at the Maine Mall. I tried them on and loved them, but did not buy. Please, people: tell me what on earth you wear on your feet with wool capri pants in winter? I'm not going to wear pumps without hosiery or opened-toed shoes in Portland Maine in November. And I'm not about to get knee-high "nylons." They had no suggestions at the store!
