Hi Everyone!
I’ve had my eye on the J. Crew Lucille Dress in Cotton-Silk Faille in Festival Green since I saw the following mannequin in my retail store:
I love how the white bubble necklace looks against the festival green color. I was concerned, however, that the Lucille Dress would not fit me well. And, I rarely wear dresses. Then, the wonderful Gigi posted a review of this lovely dress in the Festival Green color HERE. I knew that I had to at least try the dress after seeing how lovely it looks on Gigi. It looks equally as lovely on the wonderful Rose in the Festival Green color HERE. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that I didn’t miss anyone who tried this dress in on Festival Green.
So, here is an IRL picture of the dress on me:
Please excuse the wrinkles. My wonderful husband snapped this picture immediately after I took the dress out of the bag. Okay, now I need your feedback. What do you think of this dress on me? Do tell!
Thanks for stopping by!
Hmm…it's a little hard to tell with the wrinkles and the cardi over it. It's hard to see the shape. As is, I think it looks just fine! The color is gorgeous on you and it looks lovely with the necklace!
AppGal: Thanks SO much!! LOL about the cardigan and the wrinkles!!! I keep looking at the picture and thinking the same thing. I'll iron the dress and try to snap better pictures. I really appreciate your help! Thanks SO much for being here!
I agree — it's hard to tell with the cardi on, but the colour seems very nice on you.
🙂 I agree that it's hard to tell with the cardigan — if you could get a quick snap of it without the cardi, I could give you better feedback. The color is so pretty, and fabulous with the white bubble. I was really tempted by this one in store, but decided to keep the Sloane dress in the similar green color. Super cute dress!
shopwithm: I agree, LOL! My hubby took a few pictures without the cardigan, but I am so weird about showing my arms. I'll take a few more pics without the cardigan after I have a very strong white chocolate mocha tomorrow morning! I'm with you, this color is lovely. Thanks SO much for your help. Thanks SO much for being here!
R: the perspective from which your photos are snapped seem to be from in front but above you? It is hard to really have an accurate glimpse. Love your taste – want to see how the dress really fits!!!
Hi Rynetta, I have to agree with AppGal, it's hard to tell how it fits with the cardigan over it. However, it looks like it's a good length on you and the colour looks great!
Hi Louise! The length and color are both great. I'll definitely post pictures without the cardigan in the morning. And, I am all over the new jewelry. I'm headed to the store in the morning! Thanks SO much for being here!
omg! LOve, LOVE, LOVE! It's a keeper, espc w/ the white Bubble necklace!
Buffy Alten: Thanks SO much!!! I really like the dress on, but I think that the picture had me second guessing it. My husband thinks that it's because of the downward trajectory of the pic. Thanks SO much for weighing in!Thanks SO much for being here!
I'd say it's a keeper! The color is radiant on you!
Skylette: Awwww, thanks SO much! You're super sweet. Thanks SO much for being here!
I picked up this dress on Friday and love it. The fabric is great and so is the color. I think the length is nice and it has pockets, which I like. I like how you paired it with white. When I tried it on my friend thought it was a bit too dressy and I said that I thought it would be able to wear it out but also to work if I paired a cardigan. You might also consider a cropped cardigan because I think it will show off the shape of the dress more.
Luxette: Thanks SO much! I love how this dress looks with white. And, I don't think that it's too dressy. I think that it can be dressed down a bit despite the material. Great idea about a cropped cardigan. I might try the dress with a white jackie cardigan. Thanks SO much for being here!
whoa whoa whoa…don't you have the festival green viv's to go with that? If so, I love it even more. That kelly green is To Die For.
Nicole: Yes! I do own the Viv Flats in Festival Green–great point about pairing them with this dress!!! Like you, I love this green color!!!Thanks SO much for being here!
I'm not sure if I like the white necklace and the white cardigan. It looks just the tiniest bit boring. You must wear a statement necklace, though. The dress' neckline is screaming for the bubble necklace. Hell, I'm screaming for it because I want to so badly (one day I keep saying to myself…one day). Don't you have a pink and another color of the necklace? Have you tried it on with those? Color blocking! I understand your hesitancy about showing your arms. I live in cardigans because I feel the same way. BTW: I'm new to your blog and I'm loving it!
Remove the cardigan, I think the white cardigan washes the dress.. but I'd say the dress looks good, just iron it lol.
I think it's a keeper, Rynetta. The color looks great on you. I understand the wrinkles. You have to catch the photographer when you can. I would push the sleeves up on the white cardi if you're going to wear that. It will make a difference w/proportions and maybe hip it up a little by making it casual. And try it with the cardigan calling more to the sides and not across/down the front of your chest. I would also try it w/the white necklace and a black or navy cardi. The white cardi is an option, but you might throw a third color in there so go beyond black or navy when you try as well. If you have a floral cardi, try that, too. And finally, if you're able, add a thin belt and see what that looks like. I'm not sure if you have a defined or not so defined waist, but in either case a belt can be quite nice. Teeny tweaks and you're there! 🙂
Since I don't wear green well, I envy (ha!) anyone who can wear this pretty color of green. I like Gigi's styling ideas, try it with a blue cardi and maybe a belt. From the angle of the photo, I can't tell if the proportion is ideal or not … play around with long and cropped cardis to see what might be best.
Hi Rynetta! I absolutely love this dress on you, and it is stunning with the white bubble necklace! Perhaps instead of the cardigan you could try a shirt under the dress like they have it styled on the mannequin?
Not sure if anyone said this, but what if you wear it with a white perfect shirt under it with sleeves rolled up. You can wear 2 bubble necklaces together at once. I have seen this look on other blogs and the new green one with the white one would look great!
Rynetta, it does nothing for you, I'm always envious of how you look in pencil skirts, your figure can sing but not in this frock horror!
Hi, Rynetta–love your blog! Festival green is so gorgeous! I agree the angle may be a lot of the issue here. Is the dress fitted enough in your waist? Agree with Gigi about adding a belt; my waist is not-so-defined, but I have been really surprised how much it helps to add a belt to some looks–it can give me the illusion of a smaller waist (must say I love that!). I wonder, too, about maybe adjusting the cardigan a little further back on your shoulders to change the angle that it creates in the front. Wouldn't the animal print Valentinas be sharp with this, too!
Honestly,The pic is not the best so it's really hard to determine how the dress really looks on you. But from the picture posted it looks a little ill-fitted especially around the neckline. I also agree with the other ladies about removing the cardigan. I also can't see your waist in the dress (from the picture posted) it looks a little loose in the mid-section.
I think the dress looks a little too big on you. Maybe because of the cardigan, not sure. Love the color on you though!! Very flattering!!!!!
I think it looks like it might be a little big, but that might just be the picture. I like the white and green together a lot. So cute!Creamy
Hi Rynetta! It is hard to tell from this pic how it really fits you, but the color is gorgeous on you! I was thinking you could try it with a black and white checkered or gingham perfect shirt underneath and the white bubble necklace with some leopard shoes or just plain black ballet flats! I would love to see a post if you try all these different options everyone has given you:)
Got this dress this past weekend, too! Wear it with the white tee or button up underneath and with a belt and I bet it will look great! I will wear mine exactly like they styled it in the catalog.
i love the colour on you but i can't tell from the picture how it fits around your waist – i love the shape on you and the white accessories are perfect! i agree with the ladies that perhaps it is the angle of the picture that makes it difficult to assess the fit. xox P
